L’union Fait
L’union Fait
Haiti's founding fathers (Toussaint Louverture, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Henri Chrisophe) played a pivotal role in the Haitian Revolution, which was a successful anti-slavery and anti-colonial insurrection by self-liberated slaves against French colonial rule in Saint-Domingue, now the sovereign nation of Haiti. The revolution began in 1791 and ended in 1804 with the former colony's independence.
1. **Toussaint Louverture**: Often considered the primary leader of the revolution, Louverture was a former slave who rose to become a general in the armies of the revolution. His leadership was instrumental in the initial stages of the uprising, and he was known for his strategic acumen and efforts to restore the economy of Saint-Domingue. He tried to create a stable, autonomous society but was captured by the French and died in prison in 1803.
